As history marches toward its prophesied conclusion, many believers are looking not with fear, but with faith, toward the skies, where the Bible tells us signs will herald the soon return of Jesus Christ. In a recent conversation, Gary Stearman and Mondo Gonzales explored the undeniable connection between cosmic phenomena and God’s sovereign plan as laid out in Scripture.
“When we come to the book of Revelation, it’s very common to see signs in the heaven,” Gonzales said. “You go to Revelation 8, the trumpet judgments, you see things like a great mountain or things like a star falling and, you know, burning things up or contaminating the waters.”

Far from speculation, the Bible speaks plainly about real, physical events involving the sun, moon and stars. “Scripture talks about things happening to planet Earth, and it talks about asteroids plunging to earth in very plain language,” Stearman noted.

Jesus Himself described a future moment when “the powers of the heavens will be shaken” (Matt. 24:29). Gonzales and Stearman pointed to this not as poetic metaphor, but a literal shaking of creation as God executes His righteous judgments. Recalling the three hours of darkness during Christ’s crucifixion, Gonzales said, “That definitely was not natural,” pointing to the supernatural authority behind such events.
The conversation also touched on the upcoming 2,000-year anniversary of Christ’s death and Resurrection—falling around A.D. 2032 or 2033 depending on historical reckoning. While not setting dates, Gonzales emphasized the significance of that milestone. “To have the church be a witness to the world for coming up on a 2,000-year anniversary—kind of like that. I mean, to me that’s exciting,” he said.
Even more striking is the prophetic re-establishment of Israel in 1948, which occurred just decades before this approaching anniversary. “If you look at that point, you add another seven years from now… it’ll be 84 years old, 85 years old, the nation Israel,” Gonzales said. “To me, is that just accidental? I don’t think so.”
The future of the world is not uncertain. Scripture makes clear how events will unfold. We are not left in the dark. As Jesus warned in Luke 21:25–28, there will be signs in the heavens, distress among nations, and roaring seas, but He followed with a command: “When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption is drawing near.”

In these prophetic days, it is not fear that should grip the Church, it is urgency. Jesus commanded His followers to “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord will come” (Matt. 24:42). The signs are here. It is imperative that Christians remain watchful, faithful and grounded in the truth of God’s unshakable Word.
